What Really Determines Your Sea Lion Experience?
While the season plays a role, it's only one part of the story. The quality of every sea lion encounter is influenced by a combination of natural conditions, wildlife behaviour and the type of experience you're looking for. These are the factors our crew consider every day before every tour.
Weather & Sea Conditions
Calm weather and good visibility create the best in-water conditions for both guests and sea lions. Some of our clearest days occur outside the peak summer season.
Sea Lion Behaviour
Australian sea lions are completely wild animals. Some days they're incredibly playful and curious, while on others they may spend more time resting or foraging. Every encounter is different.
Peak Periods
School holidays and long weekends bring more visitors to Jurien Bay. If you prefer a quieter experience onshore, consider travelling outside peak holiday periods. Travelling during quieter periods often means more departure choices and greater flexibility if weather conditions require a schedule change.
Your Tour Operator
Not all sea lion tours are the same. Vessel size, group size, experienced guides and onboard comforts all contribute to your overall experience—regardless of the season you choose.
